Hanif Akmal (2020)

I feel that Faizul is the very epitome of an easy-going individual, which makes him a great conversationalist and easy to work with. In terms of work, I can vouch that he is very punctual (which I attribute to his coffee addiction) and has a good sense of urgency. A person with good time management, he juggles work between his master’s and his personal life and I could see that he completes his tasks with top-notch efficiency. During our time as research assistants, Faizul, being almost a native English speaker, also displays good adaptability in speaking proper Malay within a short period of time. Being my senior, I feel that Faizul also displays good leadership traits and characteristics. He had also at one point supervised me at a different work setting, showing me by example, which includes how-to’s, product training and day-to-day operations in the organization. If I were to recommend Faizul for any position, I’d say his broad work experience, good work ethic and coupled with his easy-to-work-with (and easygoing) nature are easily his selling points.

Cris Raymund Viray (2018)

He is one of the UNESCO Youth Peace Ambassadors whom I met in Thailand in 2012 and who turned out to be one of my closest friends. He is philosophical in nature, loves to write blogs, and is always engaged in conducting research. With the opportunity to visit Brunei in 2018, I was able to witness how serious he is in sharing their culture, thoughts on different areas of being a Bruneian, and how passionate he is in pursuing higher education. With his strong background in anthropology and the opportunity to know him personally helped me appreciate more the uniqueness of Southeast Asian culture. His activeness in different key social issues such as peacebuilding and gender dialogues serve as his strengths. Indeed, he is not only competent in the discipline of anthropology but also in other aspects of life. He will definitely be an asset to different organizations.

Haziq Omar (2016)

Faizul is a great person to work with. Not only he is my boss, but he is also a great companion and a friend in the office. He keeps everyone in check and makes sure we are all doing an excellent job. A worthy captain deserves a worthy crew. I am glad to be one of the crew.
